Fluxpedition!—A Participatory Flux Expedition

Stauffer Communication Arts B (STAUF-B) – B135, Media Lab

Friday 27th, 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm
Chris Wildrick (Syracuse University)

Anyone can participate in this interactive art experience—just arrive at the start of the workshop. We will then go on a Fluxus-style physical, mental, or spiritual expedition, or Fluxpedition. We will use random processes to determine which of several pre-planned Fluxpedition options we will engage in, such as doing a scavenger hunt connected to the local area; having a shared meal of Fluxified food; doing a trash pickup of randomly determined kinds of trash; playing a game of Dungeons & Dragons; exploring dowsing and astral projection; or engaging in a walking/mapping/photo/text quest. This Fluxpedition workshop will create a unique aesthetic experience for the participants, with the hallmark Fluxus characteristics of humor, chance, and mindfulness in conjunction with the exploratory nature of an expedition.
